¡Wepa! Ready to dance salsa like never before? New England’s longest-running Latino cultural festival is BACK on Saturday, July 20th from 12 PM to 8 PM at Plaza Betances. Join us to celebrate over 50 years of community, music, y muchas cosas buenas!
Come and enjoy a parade, traditional cuisine, arts and crafts, children’s activities like face painting and inflatables, and other treats that highlight the diversity of Latinx culture.
What is Festival Betances?
Festival Betances is a staple in New England’s Latinx community and the Boston summer festival season. Every year, the in-person event has drawn a multicultural audience of 3,000+ people.
Through the years, Betances’ stage has seen many musical and dance performances, ranging from local and regional acts to international Latinx music icons such as Larry Harlow from Fania All Stars, Tony Vega, and Tito Rojas. The festival is named after Ramón Emeterio Betances, a Puerto Rican patriot whose medical contributions benefited Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States. He also became a leader in awakening national consciousness in Puerto Rico, and is considered one of the foremost intellectuals of the 19th century.

Zayra Pola, better known as “La Reina de Timbal” – and for good reason!
Luis Matos Burgos, whose vocal stylings have been wowing audiences for over 50 years.
Pirulo y La Tribu, an award-winning salsa and timba group that have shared their sound touring all around the world.
And we close with headliner Charlie Aponte, the legendary lead vocalist of El Gran Combo for over 40 years
